Nepal earthquake.

The earthquake of 2015
The death of our tenant teen age daughter along with her younger brother and both the parents. Massive earthquake and the of the five story floor of that segment of that building had collapsed. The cancer patient, my brother, ran to a safety structural area of of the North west part of that big building with a son, daughter and the wife and hung around safe structural area because he was a civil engineer . His presence of mind worked and he rushed towards the safe area on the third floor. After the violent shake all four of them rushed down the damaged building with dust all over their bodies with minor injuries.
A teen age girl in the neighbor hood compound from Bhaktapur died with the mother with three story building flat over their body. The neighboring lady who used to come for massaging the body of my mother and the new born baby every time my mother delivered the baby died along with five members if the family. The only surviving members of that family was a grand son.

People broke legs while jumping over our compound. Large if people from the neighborhood came rushing in fir safety. They stated inside our compound for more than a month. No body could enter houses because of many records of after shocks. And unsafe damaged building.
it safe inside lower floors of the building felt unsafe because of the tilted buildings of the .neighbors.
Over more than five thousand building
The winds made life miserable followed by rain made life worst.
Lanes blocked with derbies of building materials.sdejecent neighbouring school buildings destryed. The earthquake took place during holiday sarure day other tjose building could have huge numbers of school children

People who wanted to help were helpless. People didn't reorganize themselves to coordinate, feel the pain of each other , be fait with each other other and learn. To sh re resources so that people h ave fair share of limited resources sharing.

Connection and collaboration. Women were found in a better position to handle the situation.

Building structures, inspection team, positioning of structural engineers...
Machama worked in the house from the age if twelve. At the age of eighty he has become deaf and blind. He occupies on one the ground floor. As soon as he sensed sake in the building he ran our to the safe side into the outside area.

When we removed all the fallen derbies of the house we discovered the hands of the four dead people on the latch of the door. The latch seemed to have buckled and had got jammed and they seemed to have failed to open the door and perished there.
On if the neighboring house was already tilted towards the road making pedestrians unable to use the road. We broke open the compound wall to open that road. The house owner didn't have sufficient money to demolish that house. The second after shock if 7.4 RS brought that down completely falling into our compound. My sister Kayo narrowly escaped from this disaster while she was passing by that building.
I was shocked to see the broken pieces of the concrete slab of the top terrace we had built with our own hand . My mother had waited for your holiday season so that she could get help of the daughters. This was built over traditional non concrete building. Lot if houses were damaged with such constructions.
We six sisters had a get together ay Balaju side. My elder sister and her husband had just arrived from usa to see my cancer patient brother. We were scheduled to have lunch at my brother's house however the plan was rescheduled and luckily we all survived. I and my sister kayo was on the way. The youngest sister was at the earthquake epicenter Gorkha. They had just completed delivering the speech when the violent earthquake shook bringing maximum damages around the epicenter areas.

Hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

People initially didn't believe the news of earthquake. I posted four time during the last two weeks before earthquake. I kept feeling that bad quake will strike
In Kastha Mandap Sradhanjali program there were couple of women waiting for me to visit their court yard containing damaged building. I got so frightened looking at the entrance of Peega Nani . I refused to enter and earned all those ladies instead about believing in the possibility of the big after shock possibilities any time. Very surprisingly very next day 7. 4 RS earthquake struck adding further damages. Those ladies really got surprised about my accuracy of the forecast.

Unfortunately there were cases of theft in the houses. People started ganging together to discourages such incidences.

Situational analysis.

Most of my relatives are shy to look for relief packages. Most if them have damaged houses. They come from business community. Education had not been their priority and hence they groomed their siblings in their family business in traditional style. Because of competition they have not been able to survive in the business. Hit by business famine they had switched over renting the property for their survival. The siblings remained unemployed and were leading their life in comfort zone. Their habits were spoilt. The migrant workers facing hardships work harder and have emerged smarter than the locals.

Earthquake brought most of their properties flat on the ground. Life spent in comfort zone made situation worst. Low level education and lack of experiences pushed them into worst situation. It is very unfortunate to see them disposing off properties in order to meet hand to mouth. I do see them without planning their life.
Because of such abrupt crisis it is but natural for them to emerge slowly transforming themselves as hardworking communities.

This is one of the communities of Nepal whose ancestors were badly suppressed. They have the history of working very hard , bring attacked, looted. They didn't seem to give up. They passed on those painful experiences from generations to new generation how to lead a life in a very simple way, never ever revolt, do not expose , stay inside pigeon holes carved windows, never retaliate. They have passed on the theory if resilient from one generation to next in order to survive in front of tyron rulers.
The descendant if this community never came forward to demand their right and were side tracked in governing structure if the nation. Now they suffered from business famine, natural disaster and displaced people from their native land.

Typical system inside this community is spending lot if time in investing in rituals. The rulers seemed to have engaged people to brainwashed citizens to dip into more into superstitions and unproductive rituals. People are so much into god fearing activities that they have no time to think about the need of educating educated. They are already caught up into resourceless situations meeting the bare hand to mouth situations and on top if that they are compelled to spend on rituals on blind faith. No wonder regions where more religion and pandits are active societies always remained back ward.

Kathmandu valley is called a city of temples. People even now visit temples early morning. Most of temple are old and had weak structures with poor maintenance. The earthquake brought most if the temples flat on the ground. After earthquake I heard pandits, who were engaged in collecting offerings, telling poor innocent earthquake victims that the gods if the temples diverted the earthquake impacts to temples in order the to save the buildings of the people. Government should have objected to such fake information flows in the society. They should have displayed the visuals about the science of earthquake instead so that people learn to keep every details of the video record of the events that took place during earthquake for future planing.

These pandits should have collected all the earth science specialists in order to educate earthquake victims. Lots of visuals are available in internet. Government should have arranged to display all these valuable visuals. During such peak crisis period people were fed with all god fearing unscientific fake analysis instead of helping internalizing the theory of true earth science details happening below the space they are residing on. Children residing inside tents had very uncomfortable days. Internet visuals could have made them gain insights into the science of natural disasters and response handling. This is what I did inside couple of tents where parents could not be with with frightened children and had difficulty getting access to resources for daily survival.
Our foundation taught them the use of aftereffects software in order to create visual details of what is happening around the disaster areas. Large volumes of printed materials were supplied as reading materials during disaster period. The social media like Facebook helped in reaching people for information flow. We had broadcasted four times through Facebook to inform people for earthquake preparedness one week before 25th April 2015. Because of this news people were more receptive on what we were talking about.

We taught theories on importance of community development, community functioning, team functioning, team performance, international networking, resources mobilizations, communication skills etc to earthquake victims.

Today 25th April 2018 the findings are that large number of citizens if earthquake affected areas are staying in unsafe risky residences. The public buildings are still not reconstructed and people are continuing to use them because of lack of alternatives.
Since Nepal is in seismic zone the infrastructures are vulnerable to such disasters. This country has always been experiencing tremors affecting these weak buildings. The people using such buildings should be given opportunities for enhancing their skills so that their earning capacities improves. Our foundation have collected such people and have provided required trainings to improve their skill sets. Government still do not seem to have brought right policies to sage guard from such vulnerability.
Event management, disaster management, event management etc trainings were also provided.
